Health Science Summer Conference
Tuesday June 10, 2025 10:00am - 10:50am PDT
A study from the Mayo Clinic showed that 83% of students ages 13-18, use caffeine daily and another 96% semi-regularly. Healthy sleep improves cognitive function, better memory, attention, and problem solving skills. These benefits are what we want for our students to be successful. Sleep deprivation is shown to decrease the previous benefits while increasing anxiety and depression which is so prevalent in our youth today. We will discuss sleep hygiene and its benefits while presenting the damaging research of caffeine consumption and how it disrupts sleep cycles, deep restorative sleep time, increases anxiety and ultimately diminishing our students' chances for academic success.  This session will be repeated.
